This mile-long sandy beach Playa de Famara on the west coast of Lanzarote is popular by nudists. For swimming but not without danger.

In the northern part of Lanzarote is located on the west coast of the "Playa de Famara, a several km long flat sandy beach. At the northern part of the "Playa de Famara" feel the nudists at home. The beach is often very windy. Various stone castles offer sunbathers to some protection from the wind. The beach can be quite wide at low tide, which makes then a beautiful beach walks. On the other hand is flooded with appropriate wind conditions at high tide the entire beach.
The nudist part of the Famara beach can be reached by car via a long, very rutted gravel track. At the very end of the runway there is a parking lot.

Bathing and swimming is not safe:

There exist in the bay of Famara very special flow conditions. Through the surf back flow arises in many places of the shallow beach on top, a strong undertow. This flow is called the Riptide. Swim towards against this often only a few meters wide flow is futile. Unfortunately, every year, deaths are recorded on Famara beach. At the Playa de Famara, the red flag stands as firmly mounted metal plate. No one prevents one, however, still bathe in the sea and swim.
